Senga Hills Forest Reserve

Senga Hills Forest Reserve, also known as Senga Bay Forest Reserve, is a beautiful hilly forest reserve in Central Malawi directly on the lakeshore in Senga Bay, Salima.

The reserve has 7 hills, most of them offering spectacular views of the lake from above. The forest has lots of beautiful trees and sports abundant birdlife including  fish eagles, king fishers, weavers and cormorants.  It is also home to baboons, hyrax (dassies) and monitor lizards.

The easiest access and starting point to discover this beautiful forest reserve is Safari Beach Lodge. You can choose a short 90 minutes return hike to the closest view point, about 200 meters high, or take a whole day to scale all 7 tops. At times it can be a bit steep, but it is all very doable with good hiking boots and when you are in a decent physical condition. Local guides are available to improve your experience and to avoid getting lost.
