This festival celebrates the culture and heritage of Likoma Island, which is located in Lake Malawi. It features traditional music, dances, and local foods, with a focus on preserving the island’s unique customs. It also draws attention to the natural beauty of Likoma, making it a growing attraction for both locals and tourists.
What to Expect for the 2026 Edition
• The Lineup: The 2026 roster exclusively highlights Malawian musical giants. For the first time in their 20-year history, legendary reggae group The Black Missionaries Band and veteran artist Anthony Makondetsa will perform on the island alongside prominent acts like hip-hop artist Mwanache.
• Key Activities: It functions as a complete packaged summer holiday. Beyond the music stages, you can experience an island parade, water sports, traditional dances, an open-air food fete showcasing local cuisine, ship cruises, and a Tourism Investment Expo.
• Official Travel Partnership: Organizers have secured the MV Chilembwe s the official water transport vessel for the festival. The ship has scheduled festival routes across Monkey Bay, Senga Bay, Nkhotakota, and Nkhata Bay directly to Likoma Island to assist mainland travelers.
